Today Dr Rosemary Keenan has been appointed CEO of the Catholic Children's Society (Westminster) and will take over from Jim Richards when he retires in the autumn. Rosemary Keenan is at present Deputy CEO and has a background of social work, and in recent times has had overall responsibility for counselling, therapeutic and family centre work.

Bishop Bernard Longley, Chairman of the Trustees and the appointment panel said: "I am delighted that Rosemary Keenan has been appointed CEO. Rosemary's commitment to and understanding of the work of the Society, which has been amply demonstrated. I have full confidence in her ability to lead our Society through the coming years and challenges that will inevitably lie ahead of us."

Rev Jim Richards, in echoing Bishop Bernard's sentiments, said: "Throughout my years at the Society, Rosemary has proven to be an inspired, loyal and dedicated Deputy. It is good to know that we have someone who will continue ensuring the work we do will fully accord with the mission of the Church, and as an integral part of the Diocese of Westminster."

Rosemary Keenan said: "As the Society celebrates its one hundred and fiftieth year of helping to transform the lives of children and families, I look forward to working with the Society's Trustees. We will be sharing in the vision of our President, Archbishop Vincent Nichols: 'To reach out to all, to engage in the work of building a world that reflects a little more closely the compassions, the justice, the tender mercy of God'."
