Advent Talks on Vatican II: forty years on
The first of a series of Advent talks on Vatican II takes place tomorrow evening at Holy Apostles Church, Winchester Street, Pimlico, Central London. The subject of the first talk, given by Fr Pat Browne and Rev Mark Vickers, will be: What was the Council all about? On the following Thursday, 28 November, Rev Nicholas Schofield from Our Lady of Willesden's parish will speak on: Lumen Gentium: What is the Church? The Rt Rev Laurence O'Keeffe OSB, the Abbot of Ramsgate will speak on: Dei Verbum: How does God talk to us? on 5 December. The talk on December 12 will be Gaudiem et Spes: The Church in the Modern World, given by John Wilkins, editor of The Tablet. The final talk on 19 December will be Vatican II: Success or failure, given by Fr Philip Miller, Chaplain, Royal London and Barts hospitals. All talks start at 8pm and last for about an hour, followed by coffee. Check listings for weekly details.
