London reunion for people from Co Kerry

The Church of the Sacred Heart in Quex Road, Kilburn in London are holding a reunion for emigrants from Co Kerry this Friday, (November 14). Many thousands came to London from this part of Ireland during the 1970s and 80s. Killarney's parish priest, Fr Declan O'Connor, is concerned to gather as many people as possible. He said: "It should be grand event." But he added that there was also a longer-term reason for the celebration. As emigrants get older, some may need support with health and housing, getting in touch with relatives or repatriation. He said: "We try to deal with these on a one-to-one basis, but we must begin with contact." For more information call: Don Grimes on: 0208 961 3714.
