Bishop of Portsmouth sends condolences to Spanish Cardinal
Bishop Crispian Hollis sent the following condolence message to Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouca Varela, Archbishop of Madrid, following the news of the terrorist bombings. Your Eminence, All our Catholic people in the Diocese of Portsmouth have been devastated by the awful news of the atrocities that took place in Madrid yesterday. As we reflect on the tragic deaths of your people and the horrendous injuries and trauma suffered by so many survivors, we can only offer you our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers. You must be assured that you will all be in the prayers of our parishes this weekend and I know that I speak on behalf of all our people when I say that we will be praying with you in a very special way in all our parishes this weekend. We will also be reaching out in a particular way to all your fellow Spanish citizens who live and work in our diocese. I pray that the Lord will comfort you and all your people in this desperate time of sadness and mourning. With many blessings and prayers, +Crispian Hollis Bishop of Portsmouth
