Birmingham interfaith peace walk

This Saturday, 3 July, people from different faiths and backgrounds will meet outside the Mailbox in Birmingham at 8.30am for the start of the fifth annual peace walk. The emphasis will be on being a prayerful presence in the midst of the newly revitalized city. This means that fewer places of worship will be visited than on previous occasions. Each faith group will, however, be represented at a particular point during the day. For example, there will be a Buddhist meditation in the Peace Gardens at 10.30am. It will be a long day - the last stop, a silent meditation at the Friends Meeting House in Bull Street. is at 5pm. But people are encouraged to join or leave at any point. It may suit those will limited time just to come to the Undercroft at St Philip's Cathedral in Colmore Row at 2.40pm so that they can take part in a reflection by the Ba'hai community. The most important thing about this day is that its purpose is to pray for peace. Those who are unable to join us in person can join in spirit by praying where ever they are. At each pause in the journey we will say: Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth. Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust. Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace. Let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe.
