Pro-life charity saddened at rise in UK abortions
The Office for National Statistics report that the number of abortions carried out in England and Wales in the last twelve months has risen by a record 3.2%. The charity LIFE has expressed its sadness at these figures. But LIFE spokesman, Patrick Cusworth said he was not surprised by them. He said: "In London alone, almost one in three women feel that they have no option but abortion. Women effectively have little 'choice' when faced with an unplanned pregnancy and are forced to choose between their education/career and their own child. "Over six million babies have been aborted in England and Wales since the passing of the Abortion Act, to say nothing of the untold damage which has been done to women who have been led to believe that this simple operation will be the answer to all their problems. But LIFE is increasingly seeing the ill-effects of abortion, with women suffering emotionally and physically afterwards. "Pro-abortion groups continue to push for even easier access to abortion. In contrast, LIFE offers counselling in over 100 centres around the UK and via our free Hotline, and we have 34 houses nationwide offering accommodation to women made homeless through pregnancy. LIFE's services offer women real choices when facing crisis pregnancies. "LIFE calls upon the government to promote schemes which give pregnant women real choices and by ending legislation that discriminates against the unborn child."
