Last Thursday at the General Assembly of the Congregation of the Mission in Rome - Fr Gregory Gay, from the United States, Visitor of the Province of Central America was elected Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity, the 23rd successor of St Vincent. In a statement the Daughters of the British Province sent Fr Gregory "their prayerful good wishes and the assurance of their support as he takes up his new leadership role - hoping that it won't be too long before he visits us here in Britain." They said: "For the past 12 years Fr Maloney has been an inspirational, charismatic leader for the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity. During his term of office he forged strong links with other Vincentian Groups and Organisations and was responsible for establishing the Vincentian Family worldwide. "He has written extensively about Vincentian spirituality urging us to live well our Vincentian Charism of "finding and serving Jesus Christ in our poorest brothers and sisters" wherever we find ourselves living as creatively and generously as we can. We thank God for his giftedness, his years of service to us and wish him every blessing for his future, wherever God's Providence will lead. Source: Daughters of Charity
