UK remembers Hiroshima


Many events are taking place around the UK today to pray for peace on the anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Japan in 1945. London's annual prayer vigil in memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is being held in Westminster Cathedral Piazza. For more information call: 020 8203 4884. An inter-church service begins at 6pm in the Chapel of Unity, Coventry Cathedral. At 8pm this evening people of all faiths and none will be placing Hiroshima Day Lanterns in the Peace Pagoda, at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. Next Monday, 9 August, the Franz Jaegerstatter Memorial Service will be held at 6.30pm in the Crypt of Westminster Cathedral. The speaker will be Rev Sidney Hinkes From now to the 17 August, Norwich Cathedral is hosting a Hiroshima and Peace Exhibition.
