The Archdiocese of Westminster issued the following statement yesterday, after diocesan priest William Hofton received a four year prison sentence for abusing two boys.
"The Diocese of Westminster is profoundly sorry for the crimes committed by one of its priests. We apologise to the victims of this abuse and ask for their forgiveness. Sexual abuse is the opposite of everything for which we stand as Christians. We have cooperated wholeheartedly with the police in their investigations. We will always do everything possible to ensure that justice is done in every case where allegations of abuse are made. Anyone who has suffered abuse in the context of the Catholic Church in England and Wales is invited to contact the Child Protection Coordinator in their local diocese, who will be able to provide advice and support."
