UK remembers September 11th

Services are being held around the country on Saturday to remember the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11th 2001. Clifton has sent us the following details of services in their diocese: At Clifton Cathedral, on Pembroke Road, Mass will be celebrated by Father Robert King at 10.30am at which prayers will be offered for the repose of the souls of all who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11th 2001. The congregation will remember in prayer the many acts of violence and injustice that have occurred and continue to occur during which we will pray that "we may secure justice and equality for every human being, an end to all division, and a human society built on love and peace". During Mass at 5.00 pm parishioners at St Paul's, Yate will mark the third anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. There will be an altar display and the families of those who died will be remembered in the Prayers of the Faithful. St Lawrence in Chipping Sodbury will be open all day for private prayer. There will be a small display with the US flag and a candle will be lit which will continue burning throughout the day as a sign of the Light of Christ, a sign of hope for all nations. In Swindon, St Mary's, Tovey Road will have a Mass for peace at 9am. At Corpus Christi, Weston-super-Mare special prayers will be said at all Masses over this coming weekend. Parishioners and clergy at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Churchdown will be saying prayers in remembrance at their Morning Prayer service. All will be welcome at the Masses and services.
