Bristol: special Mass for people of Beslan
A special Mass will be celebrated in Clifton Cathedral, Bristol, to remember and express solidarity with the people of Beslan this Wednesday at 7.30pm. On the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows (15 September) there will be a special time of prayer for the repose of the souls of all who died in Beslan's School Number One, for those who mourn them and for those who are injured. The Cathedral, on Pembroke Road, will welcome all to the Mass which will be celebrated by Father Alexander Redman. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 7pm prior the start of Mass at 7.30pm. Fr Alexander said: "For centuries East and West were united in one Church. Now sadly Catholics and Orthodox are divided. In his desire for unity, the Pope recently returned to the Russian Orthodox Patriarch the holy icon of Our Lady of Kazan, traditionally known as "the protection of Russia". We pray that this gesture may speed the process of reconciliation. In the meantime, though divided, we stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with our Russian Orthodox brethren, praying together for all who suffered in Beslan. May God send His peace and healing love upon all who live in that troubled region. All are welcome, and especially our brothers and sisters from the Russian Orthodox Church" Source: Clifton Diocese
