Theology in Docklands
The Canary Wharf Catholic Community (CWCC) is resuming the "T-ology on the Wharf" series of talks next Thursday with a visit from Mill Hill Missionary Fr Larry McGonnell who will speak on "Spiritual Insight" from a reflection on the Gospel. Born in the North-East of England, Fr Larry joined the Mill Hill Missionaries in 1981. He completed his theological studies at the Catholic University of Louvain in 1986, gaining a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Theology. Later he went to Kenya in East Africa working with a Mill Hill missionary priest for two years. On his return to the UK he was ordained priest and sent to work in South-East Asia in the Philippines. After seven years in the Philippines he was appointed to Loyola University in Chicago for a Masters Degree in Pastoral Psychology. Following his studies in the US, Fr Larry was appointed Director of Studies at the Mill Hill Seminary in London. During his time lecturing in the seminary, he also completed a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy, and is currently working on his Doctorate in Psychotherapy and Counselling. While engaged in research, Fr Larry is resident and helping in the parish of St John the Evangelist in North London. The CWCC meets every Tuesday at the 3 Westferry Circus Interfaith Prayer Room for Mass at 12.30pm and on the first Thursday of the month for the theology and Christian ethics series - a part of a pastoral outreach of St Edmund's parish on the Isle of Dogs. The talk will be followed by questions and discussion. Participants are asked to bring packed lunches. Teas and coffees will be provided.
