Benedictines to launch review


The Benedictines have announced this week that they are planning to bring out a new publication: 'Benedictine Culture' - an Occasional Review of Practical Theology' published by the Benedictine Study and Arts Centre at Ealing Abbey. The Review will include sections on: Doing Theology; Education and Formation; Tradition; Faith and Culture; Obsculta; Letters; and an Abbey Chronicle. The first number will, so far, contain the following article: a Foreword, by Abbot Martin Shipperlee; Editorial: "Practical Theology as Doing Theology" by Hilary Anderson Beck. "Leaving and Returning to Learning", by Chris Cleugh, Headmaster of St Benedict's School, Ealing. "The English Benedictine Spiritual Tradition, pt 1" by Br Dominic Taylor OSB, Ealing Abbey. "A further look at the document Fides et Ratio of John Paul II (1998)" by Eduardo Echeverria, Associate Prof of Philosophy, Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, MI; "The Cursing Psalms" by Abbess Paula Fairlie OSB; Book Reviews; Reviews of recent art exhibitions, Fr Peter Burns OSB; a regular article on Music, Fr Alban Nunn, OSB. Editor Fr James Leachman OSB, told ICN: "We are not competing with any other publication, just filling the gap to serve the wider British/Irish Benedictine world and promoting conversation and mutual understanding within the Catholic Church."
