An intrepid a group of parishioners from St Pius the Tenth Catholic Church in Withywood, Bristol are setting their alarm clocks early on Sunday 18 June in order to begin the walk to Glastonbury, to take part in the annual pilgrimage. Led by Joan Harris, they will set off at 5am, arriving at the Shrine around 1.30pm. Joan Harris said: "Our group, of around eight, is made up of Catholics and people who aren't Catholics who come together for the annual pilgrimage. It's hard work but we'll have some fun on the way! We will be raising funds for the Clifton Diocese Peru Appeal and for parish projects here in Withywood." Fr Daniel Campbell, Parish Priest at St Pius the Tenth, said: "This group of like-minded people show the real sense of community and fellowship in the South Bristol area. Every year they do this walk and raise funds for a worthy cause. I am delighted to say that this year that they have responded to the local Church and the Church in Peru. I wish them well on their hike! " The Bishop of Clifton, Rt Reverend Declan Lang, leads the annual pilgrimage to Glastonbury which includes an ascent to the famous Tor and a special open-air Mass for the anointing of the sick. The pilgrimage is open to all.
