Premier Radio asks for support to win national licence
Premier Radio, London's first ecumenical Christian radio station, are asking for support from their listeners to help them secure a place as the first Christian radio station to broadcast on a national digital licence. The successful applicant would be able to broadcast a number of stations across the UK using digital radio. Premier Christian Radio are part of the National Grid's bid and are the only Christian broadcaster on either application. Currently the broadcasting regulator, Ofcom is overseeing the decision on which of the two candidates - the National Grid or Channel Four should be awarded the licence. Ofcom are currently "Seeking views on these applications by 15 June 2007" and as the only Christian broadcaster to be part of either of the the national digital licence applications, Premier are urging Christians across the UK to show their support for the National Grid bid through the Premier website, in the hopes that they will win and become the first national Christian radio station in the UK. "Should National Grid win this bid, Christian programmes will be heard on radios across the nation - for the first time in UK history." Premier's Chief Executive, Peter Kerridge said. "The magnitude of this opportunity is huge - not just for Premier, but for the Christian voice across the UK, now and for many years to come." "Premier is just a step away from broadcasting to the whole of the UK, on a national digital platform. Your voice is needed to ensure a licence agreement that includes Christian radio. To support us, all you need to do is visit our website, premier.org.uk and show your support." Ofcom are accepting opinions from the public about who the national digital licence should be awarded to until 15 June. For further details, and to lend your support, see: www.premier.org.uk/winthebid
