London: model Catholic school pupil fatally stabbed
A 14-year-old boy described as a 'model pupil' by his school was stabbed to death in a north London street yesterday for his mobile phone. Martin Dinnegan, who attended St Aloysius College, one of the best performing schools in the capital, was attacked by up to five boys as he walked to a youth club in Holloway just after 8.30pm last night. His parents and five brothers and sisters are said to be devastated. The killing is the latest in a string of shocking murders of teenagers in London. So far this year 14 teenagers have died in gun and knife violence while seven people have been murdered in London in the last six days. Martin's deputy head teacher, Danny Coyle, said: "Martin was a fantastic lad who had just finished year nine and had a shining future ahead of him. "Everybody here is desperately sad about it. Tragic is not the word. In a city as wealthy as this, it is outrageous that such attacks are taking place on a daily basis."
