Navy intercepts arms vessels
The Indonesian navy is trying to control the continuous arrival of Islamic Jihad fighters on the island of Ambon. According to a report the navy, and from Keuskupan Crisis Centre of Ambon diocese, seven navy vessels are patrolling the seas around the islands. Over the weekend they intercepted three motorboats loaded with arms. The crew and passengers were sent back while the vessels have been held at the naval base. Over the weekend the local media released a statement by a leading former member of the Moluccas Legislative Council, and a Christian, ZJ Apituley, stating that the situation in the Moluccas is out of control. He suggests a possible solution to Indonesian authorities might be granting a special autonomous status to the islands.
