Rebels kidnap youths

At least 28 young people were abducted in Uganda this week by the rebel Lords Resistance Army (LRA). Comboni Father Raffaeli di Bari, 71, working in Pajule, told MISNA missionary news service he was very concerned about the young people. He asked all those attending World Youth Day events in Rome next week to remember the youth of Uganda in their prayers. The LRA have also been blamed for the deaths of eight civilians who were killed after the truck they were travelling in drove over a landmine in North Uganda. Aid workers report that the LRA also killed several people in an attack on the refugee camp in in Acholi-Pii, in the Kitgum district. The rebels retreated when the Ugandan military arrived.
