Russian submarine: the world prays
As hope was fading last night for the rescue of the crew of the Russian submarine Kursk - people across Russia were praying for the sailors and their families. Mgr Tom Burns, Principal Roman Catholic Chaplain for the Royal Navy said: "In all the naval churches and chapels, we are praying for the rescue teams, those on the submarine and their families and loved ones." He said: "An accident like this brings home to us the dangers faced every day by navy crews and the anxieties faced by their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time." More than 23,000 people of all religions and none, from around the world sent prayers and messages to the Kursk Prayer Site, at www.dotan.net/prayer.
