Nigeria: Moslem court postpones stoning sentence

Archbishop Anthony Olubunmi Okogie of Lagos has appealed again for a court to spare the life of a woman sentenced to death by stoning by stoning for adultery. Last Monday a Moslim court postponed its verdict on the sentence against Safiya Husaini 35. The Catholic News Service of Africa reported on Friday that the Archbishop said he was hopeful Safiya would live, because of the concern of the international community and the protests made by the Nigerian Episcopal Conference.
