Pope prays 'that the Lord may enlighten world leaders'

Pope John Paul II welcomed Iraq's offer to allow UN weapons inspectors in the country at his weekly general audience at St Peter's yesterday. He said: "In the past few days following the winds of war that threatened to upset the entire Middle East region, the good news arrived of the possibility of a resumption of collaboration of Iraq with the international community. "Pray so that the Lord might enlighten world leaders, open and support the small glimmer, and lead humanity, already suffering from so many ills toward living together free from war and from being overwhelmed by violence." source: Vatican Information Service
