Turin: conference on Biblical humour
A conference on humour in the Bible has been taking place at Turin University, in Italy this week. At the gathering entitled: 'Laugher and Comedy in Ancient Christianity' - scholars have been presenting papers examining evidence that Jesus had a sense of humour and looking at topics such as laughter in the Old Testament. Conference organiser Clementina Mazzucco said there was a commonly held prejudice that Christianity and humour were not compatible, when in fact, she said, there were many witty and amusing episodes throughout the scriptures.
