Kenya: Church called to develop media work

A group of Catholic communicators meeting in Langata have called for media training for church staff. They have also recommended that the Church provide more equipment in their media centres. In his closing remarks, the chairman of the social communications commission of the Catholic Bishops, Bishop Alfred Rotich described communications as a ministry of the church. "Through effective usage of modern communications means, communicators are able to contribute effectively in propagating the Christian message," he said. Earlier on, the group, drawn from various dioceses in the country, had a training workshop, where it reviewed its past work and planned for the future. Both workshop and the annual general meeting was held at the Carmelite Community Retreat House, in Langata from November 21-23.
