London: Benefit for Bethlehem
Leon Rosselson, Victoria Brittain, Bruce Kent and pianist Keith Ford are among those taking part in a benefit at 7pm this evening (Friday 5 December) at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, to draw attention to the worsening humanitarian situation in Bethlehem. Singer Amal Kaawash, accompanied by ud soloist and singer Hany El Hamzawy, will be playing traditional songs from Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt.
As Christmas approaches, the town is surrounded by a nine metres high wall, depriving the people of 87% of their land and strangling their economy in what has in effect become a ghetto.
