London: top artists in cultural celebration for Palestinians
A catalogue of Britain's top actors, musicians and entertainers will join Palestinian artists tomorrow night for an eclectic and electric evening of passionate performance in 'Palestine Aloud - A Cultural Celebration'.
The capital's flagship Choir of London, musician John Williams and actors Corin Redgrave, Juliet Stevenson and Miriam Margolyes are but a few of the British names to attach themselves to the project, performing alongside Reem Kelani, Marwan Abado and Hanan al Sheik, with the evening directed by Poppy Burton-Morgan.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the nakba (catastrophe), when thousands of Palestinians were forced to flee their homes in the wake of the newly-formed Israeli state in 1948. Palestine Aloud is dedicated to them. There will be no speeches and no rallying. Instead the night will be offer a powerful testament to a culture whose riches are too often hidden behind the demands of desperate political struggle.
Palestine Aloud takes place at the Cadogan Hall, 5 Sloane Terrace, London, SW1X 9DQ on Wednesday 22 October at 7.30pm
Tickets are £20-40. To book call: 020 7730 5400 or see: www.cadoganhall.com
