Year of Faith Justice and Peace Calendar

On the eve of the Year of Faith which begins on Thursday, Shrewsbury Diocese Commission for Justice, Peace and Social Responsibility has produced a Calendar to help groups and individuals renew their commitment to the gospel message. Special days or weeks of prayer and/or action are listed, covering a wide range of topics – some familiar, some perhaps less so – complete with links for further information. Each date is supported by a scripture verse or a quote from Catholic Social Teaching or other eminent source, plus prayer or action ideas.

This is an opportunity for groups and individuals to raise the profile of J&P in their parishes and communities and to attract new people, through highlighting campaigns and issues, in response to the Year of Faith and to the New Evangelisation initiative of the Catholic Church which will be top of the agenda for the Synod of Bishops meeting in Rome from 17-28 October 2012. It is our way of showing our care and concern for building and nurturing good relationships with all people, with the natural world and with our Creator God and by so doing deepening and nourishing our faith.
