A special charity performance of The Door - a play which won two Michael Caine Awards at the Edinburgh Festival last summer, and six other prizes - including best new writing, best actor (for both actors) and best director - took place at Holy Apostles Parish Hall in Pimlico, central London, last night, to a packed house.

Actors Tom Cobley and Chris Westgate gave excellent performances in this sharp, witty and thought-provoking two-hander, written by Tony Earnshaw and directed by Stefan Dubois. After the show there was a reception in which the audience was able to meet the cast and author.

All proceeds from the evening will go to New Ways, a charity which supports the work of the St Paul Missionary Community on the edge of the Turkana desert in north west Kenya. After the show Fr Steven Ochieng, parish priest with the community, spoke about their work running schools, clinics, agricultural and water projects. For the last past two years there have been tribal clashes in the area and the mission is sheltering hundreds of people.
