Campaign to stop 'Koran burning' pastor from entering UK

Terry Jones, the self-styled pastor of a small American church, who threatened to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the 11 September attack, has been invited to speak at an English Defence League rally in Luton in February.

Jones, whose church has just 46 members, caused riots around the world as the media reported his speeches. At the time, the Pope with other church leaders and politicians appealed for him to withdraw his threats. Clergy at the Syrian Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Salvation in Baghdad were filmed expressing their concern that his threats could provoke further attacks on Iraqi Christians. Just weeks later, on 31 October, they were among the 56 people killed in an attack on the church.

The campaign Hope Not Hate has set up a petition today calling on the Home Secretary to prevent Jones entering Britain. If you would like to add your name, visit: http://action.hopenothate.org.uk/page/s/Preacher-of-Hate
