Portsmouth Diocese came out with a top award at the 48th Annual Conference of the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) in San Diego, California, attended by 1100 people from 13 countries.

The Diocese received the award for Total Diocesan Stewardship Effort for its excellence in materials used to promote stewardship. The ICSC has recognised good practice by giving awards to dioceses and parishes for the last 25 years, but 2010 is the first time this particular award has gone to a diocese outside the USA.

On hearing of the award, Bishop Crispian said: “We are deeply honoured to receive this Total Diocesan Stewardship award. Our presentation represents a great deal of hard work and commitment by a whole host of people”. The application for the Award was supported by evidence illustrating the range of stewardship activities in the diocese, including prayer and reflection materials for individuals and groups, materials from schools, details of Diocesan days, Bishop Crispian’s pastoral letters, and materials from the Living our Faith campaign (which to date has raised over £13.3m).

The award was presented by Jim Kelly, President of the International Catholic Stewardship Council.
