Where to see Pope Benedict in London

During Pope Benedict's visit, there will be two occasions to see him as he travel in the Popemobile through the streets of central London.

The first is on the early evening of Friday 17 September when he travels from Lambeth Palace to Westminster Hall via Lambeth Bridge and Millbank. The second is on the early evening of Saturday 18 September when he is going to the Vigil in Hyde Park. This route is along Horse Guards Road, The Mall, Constitution Hill, Hyde Park Corner and Hyde Park. On Friday there will be limited space and vantage points. The Saturday route is fuller and more easily accessible.

A special prayerbook has been produced for this Visit. Nearly one million copies have been printed and distribution of them is now taking place. The book contains the texts of all the liturgical events of the Visit, together with short forms of Morning and Evening Prayer and useful and informative essays. It will enable everyone to take part in the Visit. While there is no charge for these Missals, parishes are being asked for a £2 donation.

The dedicated website: www.thepapalvisit.org.uk , will carry updated information and will ‘stream’ the Visit in its entirety. ICN will also be keeping readers up-to-date as news comes in.

Archbishop Vincent said: "There is so much to look forward to. My own simple expression of the overall purpose of this Visit is that Pope Benedict comes to help us, as a society, to see that faith in God is not so much a problem to be solved as a gift to be discovered afresh."
