Divine Mercy Day at Westminster Cathedral
On Saturday, a Lenten Divine Mercy Day of Prayer was held in Westminster Cathedral with the theme: 'God’s Mercy the only remedy for the World'. The day included a Eucharistic healing service, procession of the Image of Divine Mercy and praying of the Chaplet of Mercy and Rosary before Mass.
Around 1,800 people stayed for the whole day, praying for needs of the Church, the country and the world. Special prayers were said for the peace in the Holy Land, for blessings upon the forthcoming Papal visit, for the victims of the Haiti and Chilean earthquakes and for our Church leaders.
The day was led by Mgr Keith Barltrop, the National Coordinator for Divine Mercy, Marian Fathers – Fr Wojtek Jasinski and Fr Andrzej Gowkielewicz and the Cathedral sub administrator Fr Slawomir Witon who was the main celebrant and preacher for the Mass.
Mgr Barltrop ended by inviting everyone to go out and spread the message of Divine Mercy first "as a witness to God’s merciful love in our own lives" and then "as an apostle of Divine Mercy actively in the world". He encouraged everyone to come on Pilgrimage to Walsingham on Saturday, 5 June for the first-ever National Pilgrimage of Divine Mercy.
