China and Christianity: Oxford lectures for Matteo Ricci anniversary

Campion Hall, the Jesuit house of studies at the University of Oxford, is staging four lectures on China, in this, the 400th anniversary of the death of the Jesuit missionary, Matteo Ricci SJ. Originally from Italy, it was Father Ricci who introduced Christianity into China; and the lectures entitled The Dragon and the Cross will offer contemporary perspectives on Christianity in China.

The 2010 Martin D'Arcy Memorial Lectures - named after the former Jesuit Provincial who was Master of Campion Hall for more than a decade - will be delivered by Doctor Xiao Xin Wu, the Director of the Ricci Institute of Chinese Western Cultural History at the University of San Francisco. They are entitled:

China and Christianity: Martin D'Arcy Memorial Lecture for Matteo Ricci anniversary Connecting the Dots. Chinese Scholars on Christianity in China Today (Wednesday, 24 February). 5pm Examination Schools, Campion Hall, the Jesuit house of studies at the University of Oxford.

The four lectures will take place in the Examination Schools - on the High Street in Oxford - starting at 5pm on the four Wednesdays of February.
