Campaigns Officer at Progressio

Campaigns Officer
£29,479 pa (plus other benefits), permanent, full-time contract
Based in Islington, London

Progressio is looking for a skilled campaigner with a passion for creatively mobilising faith audiences to speak to the powerful on behalf of the powerless.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive and shape campaigning work in Progressio, where campaigning is a vital component of our advocacy and a key means by which the public become aware of and engage with us. You will have a strong commitment to promoting a progressive agenda for change with our supporters.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level. You should have demonstrable experience of working effectively with national NGOs, faith-based constituencies and networks; developing, organising and monitoring successful public campaigns; producing clear, inspiring and accurate written communication; producing digital communications, and of public speaking.

You should be a strategic and creative thinker and planner, with an ability to research, develop and implement campaign ideas, and reach out to new audiences; have excellent writing skills in English, with an ability to present complex ideas to audiences in a clear and inspiring manner; strong presentation skills and the ability to collaborate with other organisations, represent Progressio and undertake public speaking engagements; the ability to interact with people and networks effectively but sensitively, and sound judgement and the ability to work and communicate with a variety of audiences (e.g. members of the church hierarchy and others). Excellent time-management, organisational and project management skills required to meet deadlines; strong initiative, self motivation and drive for innovation and excellence; ability to work as part of a team and to engage and enthuse others; an active interest in international development, and a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and undertake overseas travel are essential.

Experience of interviewing beneficiaries, collecting case study material and writing up the stories; being interviewed by the media; liaising with politicians or other key influencers/decision makers; published articles, and a knowledge of Spanish are highly desirable.
