London: Elizabeth Wang to speak at afternoon of reflection and worship

Like Elijah we are called to seek the presence of God, and be awestruck before His power and majesty and beauty

Like Elijah we are called to seek the presence of God, and be awestruck before His power and majesty and beauty

There will be an afternoon of reflection and worship on Saturday 31 October from 2 - 4pm at the Carmelite Church, 41 Kensington Church Street, Kensington, London, W8 4BB. An exhibition of pictures by artist Elizabeth Wang is on display in the church. The afternoon event includes a talk by Elizabeth Wang at 2pm on the exhibition theme 'The Mystery of Faith', together with time for prayer and meditation. Holy Mass will be at 3pm, followed by refreshments in the parish hall. All are welcome, no tickets are required.

Many people may have already seen the pictures while visiting the relics of St Thérèse in the Carmelite church. This event will give visitors a chance to spend more time with the pictures. The Carmelite Church is five minutes walk from High Street Kensington tube station and ten minutes walk from Notting Hill Gate tube station. There is still time if visitors wish to see the exhibition before 31 October, the last day of the exhibition. The Church is open daily from 7am to 7pm. Entrance is free, the exhibition is closed during services.

The exhibition features large-scale prints of some of Elizabeth's paintings. Most of the pictures are recent works, and will be new even to those who know Elizabeth's work well. Radiant Light has been organising free art exhibitions for some years. Last September 100 people gathered in Harpenden for a day of talks, prayer and art; and heard a talk by Mgr. Keith Barltrop, National Coordinator of the visit of St Thérèse’s relics.

Elizabeth Wang, 67, has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. She has had solo exhibitions of religious work at Westminster Cathedral, the Bar Convent Museum (York), and at various schools and parishes throughout the country. Please note that the event is in a different church this year and not at the French Church as in some previous years.
