Lancaster Diocese issues advice on flu pandemic
The Diocese of Lancaster has just published an online booklet, giving advice in the possible event of a local outbreak of Swine Flu (H1N1) or the possible emergence of a Flu Pandemic. The publication, which draws on leading practice from the NHS and HPA, is called: 'Sustaining Pastoral Presence: Influenza Outbreaks'.
Mr Jim McManus and Rev Nick Donnelly, with the mandate of Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue, have developed and expanded their work on pastoral planning for a flu pandemic to answer practical questions about how best to respond to an outbreak of Swine Flu. Their previous work, 'Pastoral Planning for a Flu Pandemic' (2006) and its summary that has been approved by healthcare experts natonally and internationally and recommended in UK Government advice to UK Faith communities in their booklet, Faith Communities and Pandemic Flu: Guidance for Faith Communities and Local Influenza Pandemic Committees. (Currently being revised).
