The spokesman for the Catholic Church in Scotland, Monsignor Tom Connelly, died peacefully yesterday (17 October) following a short illness. Mgr Connelly, 66, worked as press officer for the Bishops' Conference of Scotland since 1981. He was ordained in 1962. He was suffering from liver cancer, although his illness was made public only in the last few weeks.
