Ecumenical festival in West Country

A Christian festival takes place next weekend (27-29 July) in the Somerset village of Dulverton. All three churches - All Saint's Anglican church, the Catholic church of St Stanislaus and Dulverton Congregational chapel - will be open throughout the weekend to visitors, and they will be holding a number of special events including exhibitions and floral displays. Fr Robert Miller, from St Stanislaus' said: "each church is a little gem in its own way. Our church was converted from a stables in 1955. The chapel is a typical early 19th century non-conformist building, and was the home of the founder of the YMCA. All Saints is Victorian. The congregations from St Stanislaus and All Saints already pray matins together throughout the year, Fr Robert explained. St Stanislaus is hosting an exhibition called: 'Sheep may safely graze.' Fr Robert said: "The exhibition is on the theme of Biblical sheep. We came up with the idea before the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak. Many of the surrounding farms were badly affected this year and we weren't sure under the circumstances, whether it was the right theme to choose - but we took a vote and decided to go ahead." He said: "We held our first festival last year, which was very popular. We hope this one will strengthen links between us all."
