Remember Hiroshima
At 8.15 this morning, 56 years ago, the world's first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, followed by a second bomb on Nagasaki. Both cities were destroyed. More than 200,000 people were killed and thousands more died in the years that followed from illnesses caused by radiation. A number of services are taking place around the country to commemorate those who died, and pray for an end to the nuclear arms race. At Westminster Cathedral, there is a vigil, prayers and Mass.
