CAFOD calls for restraint in response to US tragedy
The Catholic aid agency CAFOD, has appealed to the international community to show restraint in their response to last week's atrocities in the US. Director, Julian Filochowski, said: " We hope and pray that the international response to last week's appalling atrocities in the US will not result in any further loss of innocent lives. The unbearable pain we have witnessed at every single loss of life must be a powerful reminder that all life is precious. We must not compound this tragedy by creating more innocent victims and grieving relatives. Instead we appeal to the international community to strive to react to these horrific events in a way which will make the world a safer and more peaceful place for all of us. "As a Catholic agency we call on world leaders to seek to strengthen the bonds that unite faith groups around the world as one way of heralding a new era of peace. This is not about a Muslim/Christian divide. Any military or political response that intensifies inter-faith hostilities can only produce more human suffering and misery."
