Two new bishops for Westminster


Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor announced the appointment of two new auxiliary bishops for Westminster diocese on Saturday. They are: Fr Alan Hopes who will be appointed to the titular see of Cuncacestre, and Fr Bernard Longley who will be appointed to the titular see of Dara. Fr Hopes is currently the Vicar General of the Diocese of Westminster. Fr Longley comes from Arundel and Brighton diocese. He taught theology at Wonersh and for the past six years has been working for the Department of Mission and Unity of the Bishops' Conference for England and Wales. The episcopal ordination is planned for midday on Friday 24 January at Westminster Cathedral.
