London: Pax Christi to host seminar on Holy Land
Pax Christi, the international Catholic Movement for Peace, is hosting a seminar this Thursday at Vaughn House, behind Westminster Cathedral. Entitled: "Building Bridges not Walls for the People of the Holy Land" - the aim of the seminar is to help Pax Christi initiate a process of education and awareness raising with the Catholic community in England and Wales about the situation in Israel and Palestine, in order to generate greater solidarity in support of nonviolent change in the region. The speakers at the seminar are: Trevor Mostyn, journalist and consultant on Middle East issues who writes regularly in The Tablet; Floresca Karanasou, Middle East project desk, Quaker Peace & Social Witness who works on the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Israel and Palestine; and Fr Paul Lansu from Pax Christi International, Brussels, with responsibility for co-ordinating Middle East work. The Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah, is the International President of Pax Christi and met with a delegation of Pax Christi sections in December in Jerusalem. This included Pat Gaffney, the General Secretary of the British section. The seminar takes place from 1.45 pm - 5.00 pm. For more information contact Pat Gaffney on 020 8203 4884.
