Mass to remember Archbishop Denis Hurley
The Catholic Institute for International Relations (CIIR) has arranged for a Mass to celebrate the life of Archbishop Denis Hurley, who died in February. Archbishop Hurley was a close friend and colleague of CIIR for more than 20 years. The stand that he took against apartheid and pursued with fortitude for 50 years came from his deep love of the South African people. The Mass will be celebrated by Canon Pat Davies, who worked in South Africa and knew Denis well. There will be testimonies during the service from people who worked with Denis as well as messages of support from around the world. Christine Allen, CIIR's executive director, said: "CIIR is pleased to arrange for this Mass because so many people have been expressing a desire to celebrate the life of Archbishop Denis Hurley. He was clearly an inspiration and guidance to many of us." The Mass will be at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Gregory, Warwick Street, London W1 (near Piccadilly Circus) this Saturday, 8 May at 3pm. All welcome. Source: CIIR
