Cornish procession for the Year of the Eucharist
Around 400 Catholics from across Cornwall took part in a special deanery Corpus Christi procession through the streets of Truro, Cornwall's County City, on Sunday, 24 May. The event was a response to Pope John Paul's request last year for public witness for the Year of the Eucharist. The route led from the main square, Lemon Quay, to the Anglican Cathedral. The acting dean of the Cathedral graciously welcomed the procession, read a passage from chapter six of John's Gospel, followed by a short prayer. The procession then moved back to the Quay for Benediction. One onlooker, a lapsed Catholic, joined the procession and was moved to tears by the witness. Despite heavy rain before the procession, the sun shone throughout - to the relief of all. Many thanks to Fr Chris Findlay-Wilson, parish priest at St John the Baptist, Camborne for sending this report.
