Scottish Latin Mass supporters welcome Pope's Motu Proprio

The Scottish Latin Mass society Una Voce Scotland have issued the following statement today: "Una Voce Scotland welcomes the wise, timely Motu Proprio of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, and wishes to put on record its' profound gratitude for his generous, carefully considered and courageous decision. "We applaud the Holy Father's desire to facilitate, "coming to an interior reconciliation within the Church." The Pope rightly stresses that in the past, the Church's leaders failed to do enough to maintain or regain reconciliation and unity. He then quotes 2 Corinthians 6,11-13, "Let us generously open our hearts and make room for everything that the faith itself allows." "We are also most gratified by the gracious response of the Scottish Bishops in their Statement released on 7 July 2007, in which they confirm their intention," to ensure that its provisions are fully available to those Catholics in Scotland who may wish to encounter the mystery of the Eucharist through the form of celebration set out in the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal." "We look forward to working closely with our bishops to ensure adequate and widespread provision of the Tridentine Rite, including all the Sacraments, at convenient times and locations."
