Baghdad: bishop injured in bombing
Comment Email Print
¬†The Auxiliary Bishop of the Chaldean Patriarchy of Baghdad, Monsignor Emmanuel-Karim Dally, was slightly injured in Friday's heavy bombing of the Iraqi capital. The news was sent to the Missionary News Service (MISNA) by Hanno Schaefer, co-ordinator of the Caritas in Amman, Jordan. "The bombs caused some damage to the Chaldean Patriarchy of Baghdad ≠ Schaefer said. Bishop Dally was superficially wounded when windows shattered during the explosions". Caritas in Baghdad is still verifying the consequences of the onslaught of missiles and bombs launched in the past hours on the city. On Thursday, hundreds of families ≠ terrorised by the first air attacks and continuous alarm sirens ≠ abandoned their homes for school buildings, where Caritas is providing food and medical assistance. The Chaldean community of Iraq counts some 750-thousand worshippers, with its patriarchal base in Baghdad and dioceses throughout the Middle East. Source: MISNA
