An invitation to climb to the roof of Africa
Comment Email Print
¬†How would you like to climb up to the roof of Africa this October? Trekking through rainforest and alpine uplands to the legendary Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, the journey will be an adventure of a lifetime. Or you could take part in a cross-country bike challenge, cycling off-road, away from the cities and camping in the bush, close to the land, its people and its wildlife. Both trips have been organised to raise funds for New Ways, a charity supporting the St Paul's Missionary Community which provides health, education and water projects for nomadic communities of the Turkana Desert. Organiser Angela Docherty said: "Both of these events will take place during the same week of the 6th-15th October. Both groups will meet at the end in Nairobi before having the opportunity to fly north to visit the projects that we are supporting in Turkana. It will be a tough challenge but an unforgettable experience! "Two years ago, 39 riders took part in the first New Ways bike challenge across Kenya. This was an incredible success and raised £170,000. This year we are hoping to beat this by giving our supporters the opportunity to choose from one of two challenges." If you are interested in either of these events please see the New Ways web site at www.newways.org.uk or email us at info@newways.org.uk
