Colombia: Franciscan priest killed

 A Franciscan Friar, Luis Alfonso Herrera Moreno, was killed last week in Santa Marta, Colombia, MISNA reports. Fr Herrera, 46, an economist of the San Luis Beltrán of Santa Marta, disappeared on Tuesday, June 28, after getting in his car to run some errands. the Curia Generalis of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) said Fr Herrera's body was found the following day near Bonda, with severe injuries caused by blows with a stone, according to forensic experts. His body was identified by Friar Miguel Angel Arévalo, rector of the San Luis Beltrán College. Investigators believe he was killed in a robbery attempt. Fr Herrera, born in 1960 in Pacora, in the central department of Caldas, was buried in Medellín on request of his family. Over the past 20 years more than 60 Catholic bishops, priests, religious, missionaries and seminarians, have been murdered in Colombia. there have also been 19 abductions. Source: MISNA
