Birmingham Faith Leaders meet Israeli Ambassador

The Birmingham Faith Leaders Group met with Israel's Ambassador to the United Kingdom last Wednesday 8 February 2017.

The meeting with Ambassador Mark Regev took place at Singers Hill Synagogue, Birmingham.

The Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Longley said: "It was a good opportunity for us to consider some very difficult issues together and Ambassador Regev listened carefully to the concerns that were raised before offering a considered response. We touched upon the two-state solution to the current impasse between Israel and Palestine; the need for more opportunities to bring together young Israelis and Palestinians to help bridge the gaps between their communities, the impact of the wall and the settlements, and the treatment experienced by some Muslims on entering and departing from Israel. All members of the group were grateful to Ambassador Regev for this unique opportunity to discuss these issues during his visit to Birmingham and felt that it had been a fruitful experience."

The Birmingham Faith Leaders Group represents the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist communities of the city.
