Elizabeth Davies with Archbishop Paglia

Elizabeth Davies is to join the national Catholic charity Marriage Care as Director of Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Formation in 2017.

Elizabeth, who will begin working for the charity in January, has worked as Marriage & Family Life Project Officer for the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales for more than 13 years, implementing the bishops' overarching strategy for the pastoral care of marriage and family life. This has included projects to develop family-sensitive parishes, to raise awareness of the holiness of the home and to support parents in passing on faith. In recent years she has worked on the pre-Synod consultations, the development of guidelines for marriage preparation and a domestic abuse working group.

Mark Molden, Chief Executive of Marriage Care, said: "We are delighted that Elizabeth is joining our team. Her wealth of experience in the area of marriage and family life will help us to continue to support couples and uphold our vision for a society in which all adults can build and sustain strong, fulfilling, healthy marriages and relationships."

Elizabeth's role will involve providing leadership and management expertise in the recruitment, training and formation of all the charity's volunteers. She will form part of a new executive leadership team for the charity, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

Marriage Care is the largest faith-based provider of relationship support services across England, Wales and Gibraltar, with 700 talented volunteers, 100 counselling locations and 53 centres located in every diocese, supported by a small team of paid staff.

Kit Dollard, Chair of the Board at Marriage Care said: "Following the two Synods and publication of 'The Joy of Love' this is an important time for couples and families in our nation who more than ever need support and formation in building healthy relationships. We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth to Marriage Care and we know that her gifts and talents will be put to good use in our ministry to the Church and wider Society."

Elizabeth said: "I am both delighted and honoured to be joining Marriage Care at this exciting time in its history, just as the organisation marks its 70th year. I have come to know and work with Marriage Care's volunteers in my current role and look forward to learning much more from them and especially being able to contribute to their success."
