London: Marymount International School seeks Spiritual Life Coordinator


Applications are invited for the post of Spiritual Life Coordinator at Marymount International School, a leading independent, international, Catholic day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18. Marymount is situated on a beautiful 7 acre estate in a residential area of north-east Surrey in close proximity to central London. The start date is 1st September 2016.

The Spiritual Life Coordinator is responsible for fostering the Spiritual life of the entire school community. This is effected by designing opportunities for worship, both communal and private, through leadership training of students and through fostering programs directly related to social justice and community service.

Specific Duties:

• Responsible for Sunday Mass - preparing students carefully for all roles in the Service and planning all activities to engage students. Presides over School Chapel services, and schedules speakers. Particular attention is given to the liturgical season and Catholic feasts, as well as feasts of other religious traditions.

• Establishes regular contact time with Boarding Students.

• Coordinates all school Masses, arranges for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent, and at other times. Acts as liaison with priests in setting up these services.

• Coordinates all Faith and Justice issues and projects, promoting awareness and involvement of students in action steps. Examples are: collecting Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas and Lenten Drives, support of the Mission School in Mali, Lourdes HCPT and walkathons etc to support various charities.

• Building Campus Ministry, coordinating retreats and days of reflection. Trains and advises students leading the retreats, members of the retreat team and engages teachers in the process.

• Chairs the Spiritual Life Committee which plans for all liturgical services coordinating Music Teachers and RE Teachers and student involvement.

Takes responsibility for all Worship Services listed below:

• Beginning and End of Year and other Staff Chapels
• Mass of the Holy Spirit
• Thanksgiving Service
• Holy Day observances
• Lessons and Carols: School wide Christmas Festival, with Music and Drama Teachers
• Lenten Liturgies for Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday
• Founder's Day Mass
• Chapel / Mass for Alumnae Reunions
• Graduation Mass
• Class Masses throughout the year each week
• Other services as they may arise within the community

• Assists Religious Education Teachers in planning Sacramental classes.

• Teaches/facilitates groups of students for PSE/RE.

• Works in close connection with CAS and community service activities of students.

• Supports the delivery of the Saturday Schools' programme.
